Big Twelve Conference Orginally a part of the Missouri Valley Conf. (1907-1928) Six schools broke off to form the Big Six (1928-47), renamed Big Seven in 1948, Big Eight in 1960, and became the Big Twelve in 1996 following the breakup of the Southwest Conference, adding 4 of its former schools.
